Gree Electric Appliances has a new ISO proposal, and it will open a new stage of the industry with global partners

From May 12 to 15, 2025, the 17th Plenary Session of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee on Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (ISO/TC86) was held in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA. The conference attracted 51 industry experts from 17 countries around the world to register for the conference, including experts from 10 countries including China, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Experts from Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliances put forward a new proposal for the establishment of a “sub-technical committee for testing and evaluation of refrigeration equipment for cold storage and cold chain transportation” at this meeting, demonstrating the innovation and leading ability of Chinese enterprises in the field of international standardization. During the meeting, the proposal became the focus of discussion among experts from all over the world, and experts from various countries carried out in-depth and fruitful professional discussions on the necessity, technical route and implementation path of the standardization of refrigeration equipment for cold storage and cold chain transportation.

The global cold chain market is booming

The need for standardization is imminent

With the acceleration of the global consumption upgrade trend, consumers’ requirements for the quality of fresh food are increasing, which further promotes the vigorous development of the cold chain market. The cold chain system uses refrigeration technology to ensure that perishable food or goods are always at the right temperature in all aspects of raw materials, production, processing, transportation, storage, and sales. As a key link in the cold chain system, the quality of refrigeration equipment directly affects the food preservation efficiency and loss rate and is the core element to ensure the sustainable development of the cold chain industry.

As the universal language of the world, international standards play an important role in facilitating economic and trade exchanges, supporting industrial development, promoting scientific and technological progress, and standardizing social governance. As the world’s largest and most authoritative international standardization agency, the standards formulated by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) are widely used around the world, and are an important dialogue window and collaborative interaction platform for the sustainable development of the global industry.

In order to promote the high-quality development of the cold chain industry, Gree Electric officially submitted a new proposal to ISO/TC86 for the new “Sub-technical Committee for Testing and Evaluation of Refrigeration Equipment for Cold Storage and Cold Chain Transportation”. The proposal demonstrated in detail the necessity of the establishment of the new sub-committee, clarified its technical scope and work plan, and took the lead in proposing two international standard-setting plans. In the future, the implementation of relevant standards will provide a unified specification for the performance evaluation of cold storage and cold chain transportation refrigeration equipment and help the global cold chain industry move towards a new stage of more efficient and standardized development.

The global wave of green intelligent manufacturing is surging

Gree gathers global strength to shape a new chapter of standards
